A new first

Two days ago, I was sitting on the floor, folding the laundry I had just pulled out of the dryer (my, how I hate doing the laundry...). I pulled two of my girls' dresses apart, and I actually heard the static electricity crackle! I let the dresses cling against each other, and pulled them apart again, just to hear the crackle. That was pretty cool!

Just as I told Jenn, I've just passed my two year anniversary of the day of my surgery. I've gotten fully adjusted to my implant, and am beginning to take it for granted, but it's amazing to still experience new sounds that I've never heard before!

Reading your blog /getting info about Esteem
Hello "Amy"
One week ago today I had an Esteem implanted in my ear. I had found your blog prior to the decsion to implant and want to thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. It helped me to go ahead with the surgery. I am not in a trial and probably among the first 25 or so to have the implant since its FDA approval. My implant was done in San Jose CA. Surgery went well and recoperating is going well. I reread all of your posts again today to get an idea of some of the issues you experienced since the surgery and turn on. Mine are very similiar, except that I do have a throbbing going on over my temple. Was this your experience? I live 600 miles from the implant center so I do not have the option to return for simple questions. It does sound like my procedure/experience was a bit more streamlined than what you had done. I only met the doctor once and had a CT scan done. Hardly any medical history was of concern and I was released to go home the same day. I did not get any anitbiotics. My big questions is how long did the fullness in the ear feeling last for you? If you would not mind chatting with me via email I would love to have someone to connect with that has gone through the experience to ask questions of. My email is jayoung49@gmail.com Thank you again for the blog, other than the Esteem materials, it has been the most benifical to me in knowing what to expect.
